The Post & Courier writes: Dennis Briatico upset North Augusta's election Tuesday, ousting incumbent and Mayor Pro Tempore Jenafer McCauley to become the first Democrat the city's had in recent history.
Briatico is quoted - “We ran a clean campaign. We didn’t aim for party; we aimed for people. We didn't run on extreme politics; we ran on the concerns of the community,” Briatico said. “We kept things down the middle, we were honest, we didn't sling mud. And I spoke to the heart of my community; I laid myself open, bare for all to see. I'm proud of what we’ve done.”
